2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Narvik Black

Well, the repair has been done by Stratstone this morning. The part cost £36 inc VAT, but I was charged a total of £120+VAT (£144.00)
They had my vehicle for approx 2.5 hours, but they did clean it for me!
Also, I didn't pay for the diagnostic check last week, which was £85.00 +VAT, but I've no doubt that part cost of this check is added to the price I paid this morning.

I've never looked on the dealer washing the car as a bonus, they don't seem as careful with the paintwork as I am.

It was full of muck inside when I dropped it off. Also the outside was full of muck/mud as well. Gleaming when I had it back. I had to check twice to see if it was mine. Razz

Last time a dealer washed my car the dash cam caught them reversing it into the wash bucket! No damage, fortunately.

UPDATE:

I've just discovered that when I lock the vehicle, I can still open the doors, which then sets off the alarm. I'll be phoning Stratstone on Monday. I just hope that the problem is down to the work they did on my vehicle, and not something else!

I discovered last night that when I lock my vehicle, the drivers door can still be opened, but does set off the alarm. I contacted Stratstone this morning, took it down to them, and they said the door latch had seized.
A replacement is £98 +VAT, and then the labour charge is £100+VAT.
Bloody disgusting, but it has to be done. I did mention to them that it was strange that this should break just a few days after they did work on my vehicle. When I had the vehicle back off them on Tuesday, I tried the tailgate/fuel flap and they worked. I didn't think of checking all the doors, and for the last few days/nights, I have been locking my vehicle, not realising that it can still be opened.

I was told by Stratstone that it was a common fault and that they were always changing them. It's just that I found it strange that it should go just after they repaired the fuel flap activator.
