Intermittent radio reception problem - AM and FM affected.

My Freelander 2 is a 2007 HSE - low mileage, pretty good condition.

Its developed a strange radio problem. Most of the time, reception on all channels (AM/FM) has gone completely, with only a couple of powerful stations (eg Radio 4 FM) faintly audible with heavy interference.

About one car journey in five, the radio returns to normal, crystal clear, performance. This cannot be replicated by simply turning the radio on and off multiple times - its as if the ignition system itself occasionally resets something.

If it were just FM, I'd deduce that the antenna was faulty. However since AM also vanishes at the same time, I guess it must be a fault in the radio CD unit itself. Its just odd that the radio occasionally works normally - usually electronics either work or they don't.

Any ideas, or previous experience with this issue?

Thx.
