Remember the joke going around during the 2008 banking crisis? What';s the difference between a Banker and a Pigeon?

A Pigeon can still leave a deposit on a Porsche. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I thought I saw a 4X4 with a Bentley badge on it near me today. Just had a look online and they do do one! It looked 'Fugly'. Whistle Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

A pal of mine had one of these had one of these Bentayga's in at their works the other day. One of his sites makes the prop and it's then sent to his site for balancing - no wonder they're not cheap!!

My neighboure has just bought a Discovery sport with the Euro 6 engine.

He tells me that he has to add ' Ad Blue ' every 1000 miles and , he has been told , if he does not the engine will not start

Is this right and how much does this additive cost.?

Also am I correct in thinking that the petrol engine in the Evoque is the old Ford engine , or is that a new LR engine?

It is the Ford 2.0 L engine. It is brilliant off at the lights, love it!

'With a punchy petrol turbo in place of a gruff diesel, and a slick six-speed auto, it’s a far better drive experience. We timed it for several runs using our stopwatch and it cracked the 100kmh mark in just 7.96 seconds. Consistently.'

This review is one of the reasons why I bought the Freelander. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

TIguan 2016 R-line

No match for the FL2 or DS but an interesting proposition from VW for the SUV that lives on tarmac, electric sunroof, LED headlamps, huge touchscreen, 12" active digital display in front of steering wheel, head-up display option, this thing has a lot of standard kit that other marques stick on the options list

Rubbish! Unless his car is faulty, it's true it won't start when it's empty, my D4 has AdBlue and its tank has a 16000 mile range and I've covered 3100 miles. It's roughly a litre of AdBlue to a 1000 miles. Top ups are included in the service schedule, the ingenium engine has a 2 year service interval so may need topped up before its service but not every 1000 miles. I think he needs to get his dealer to clarify their policy. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Must say it seemed odd to me , so where is this 3 gallon tank situated ? Is it in the fuel tank ?

Appreciate its not in the fuel but if it is in the tank does it reduce tank capacity?

Do all diesel Euro 6 engines need AdBlue ?

On LR web Pages:

How will I know if DEF levels are low?

The distance until the next DEF refill can be viewed at any time in the message centre on the dashboard.

Additionally, if low levels of DEF are detected in the tank, you will be given several warnings. The first alert is shown 1,500 miles before the tank is empty, followed by a second when 930 miles are remaining. A third warning indicates when 515 miles are left and also warns that the DEF tank needs re-filling or the vehicle will not be able re-start when the distance countdown reaches 0. The final warning indicates when only 100 miles remain.

When the countdown reaches 0 miles, the vehicle will be prevented from re-starting after the next engine switch-off; this is to ensure the vehicles fully complies with the Euro 6 legislation. The engine will only start again when the DEF tank is re-filled.

AdBlue: the biggest con in the world. It's nothing clever, 31.5% urea solution if my memory serves me. ( I once ran a feasibility study on building a production plant for it when I was a wage slave Rolling with laughter ) The clever bit is in having the marketing and distribution network to sell it at a silly margin. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
