Tires squealing/cv joint

I've had cv joint gone noises for a wile
But have noticed tire squealing going medium fast from the front wheels only
I'am wondering wether it could be more sinister than cv joints
I had the front slide out wile cornering in the wet resently 2008 xs

With the box in park and both front wheels stopped, can you spin the propshaft?

If so the CV noise might well be the front transfer box or its coupling to the gearbox. When it does eventually die you are left with front wheel drive and no warning lights/messages on the dash. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

CV joints tend to give clunking noises if near the hub or vibration if at the other end of the half shaft. If you are getting tyre squealing then it implies that the diffs are locked up. Could it be that the haldex is stuck on? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

When the Haldex is engaged it is the rear tyres that are affected, not the front.

Haldex is engaged

Hope its not a shotgun wedding ! Rolling with laughter

Good point Dunkley but lots of differing things going on by the sound of it. CV's was a bread and butter job in my day but they clonked like mad if Censored . Breaking out in the wet could be anything from a soft tyre to a very big garage bill, will be interested to hear the final outcome.

Still of the view preventative medicine is a must for our Freelanders, they should not be going into high miles without all the drive fluids and Haldex filters being serviced. I am still to do the front transfer gizmo but all the rest done before 40,000 miles. Time will tell. Rolling Eyes FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

wheel alignment? If the Haldex is misbehaving it'll feel as if the handbrake is on.

Ive had GG AT's tyres for 3 years and they squeal at low speeds in most car parks. Sounds like i'm a boy racer but i bet i'm not even doing 10mph. Black MY2013 SD4 GS Auto, Wood Company Armrest, Freel2 sticker.

When my front CV was playing up I didn't get any squealing noises, just vibration through the drive shaft. The only time I've had real squealing was when the power steering rack was crying out for a flush. It squealed a lot more towards the end of the steering lock.
You've given yours a bit of a hiding with mud and water so I'd be checking any oils and fluids I could.
