I have to nip to San Sebastian for a couple of weeks soon, going to take the van as I prefer it to hotels.

I have a Saneftoll tag it is excellent and saves loads of time, whilst driving in France.

The annual fees are worth a couple of pints. me off when they charge you to use it as on top of the extortionate tolls. I generally avoid motorways anyway. Much more enjoyable to drive through the countryside. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE |

The tolls through France to Spain are too much that I refer to go by ferry to Santander, the time we went through France the added cost of fuel, tolls and hotel both ways almost equal the ferry cost from Postmouth to Spain. In general I think it's about over €1 per 10 KM; the problem is in France non toll road are choked with traffic.

My Tag packed up without me knowing before a trip to Spin a couple of weeks ago, so I had to pay, if I remember correctly.

Ferry booked and paid for, campsite booked and paid for - no insurance as Gill has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, and no-one would quote. Then .............

Sorry to hear that but why would you want insurance (apart from breakdown) in an EU country, just take EHIC cards.
Yep, most filling stations are limiting it to 20 or 30 Lt. I drove back up from Limoges to Northern Brittany on Saturday (580km), filled up on Friday night and with a couple of stops to get 30lt made it home with half a tank.
I managed 24 mpg overall towing a 5.2m, 1450kg caravan. I found the most economical speed to be 96kph on cruise.
And filling stations won't let you fill cans either.
Diesel is much cheaper in Spain anyway, so I went into Spain almost empty. Cheapest I found in Spain was .909€/lt against 1.099€ in France. Have a good trip. |

The insurance was for cancellation - ie if I can't reliably get to San Sebastian by car then I would just fly and stay in a hotel, remember for me it's just work, for Gill it's an adventure.
