Pirelli Scorpion Verde perishing

Hi all

Got my brand new Pirelli Scorpion Verde tires 7 months ago and they have done less than 3.000 miles when on my mot they put down an advisery for all tires starting to perish Neutral anyway went back to PROTIRE where i got them and they said after aload of bull that these tires do perish and it "normal" is this true?

Just abit miffed to be honest. If you have these tires please check yours and see if they are the same with how long you have owned them and the milage

Every tire is cracked and split in the tred groove on the inner and outa band

Cheers

As above check the code, I certainly wouldn't leave it at that, push the dealer and it may also be worth contacting Pirelli

Hi guys

The date code is 2015, thats the first excuse they tryed saying oh i bet they are old tires from the factory but when they looked they soon dropped that one Neutral The tires still have 7mm tred, all i do is road driving to and from work which is about a 3/4 mile trip, and then just normal driving, never been offroading with the tires so its kinda shocking that the tires are like this.

I don't think that cracking is right for a 2015 tyre.

Counterfeit tyres?
http://www.ukantipiracy.co.uk/cars/fakecartyres.html

Get the serial numbers off the tyres and contact Pirelli. Take it from there.

I ran Pirelli Scorpion Verde for years on my Disco and they never perished. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Afraid it is true. Being an mot tester, I have seen plenty of Pirelli tyres perished like that. It is also quite common to see the shoulders appear to be splitting - as if the tread section is about to lift from the side casing especially on the lower profile sizes. I always put it down to a harder compound being used. Not dangerous and not an mot failure although not nice looking. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

shocking for such new tyres, I wouldnt accept them on my car.

did you pay on credit card - if so you may find it easier to get a refund

Or just plot up at your dealers, block one of their bays, and say quite politely that you are not moving until they have been replaced Smile Take flask of coffee, and a sandwich -they usually get the message.

If they call the police, report them upon arrival for selling "fake tyres" and ask for trading standards to attend.

just be a real polite pain in the neck - it does work.

Its mischievous Friday Smile

I had this a few years back but the cracking was on the side walls of 2 Continental tyres I had put on my old Frontera.

I checked on how to go about complaining etc and so went back to the tyre fitters who put 2 new tyres on at my expense, and then sent the cracked tyres back to manufacturer. The report came back about 2 months later, saying the rubber was perishing due to incorrect storage and I got my money refunded.

After reading previous tyre reviews on this forum and researching prices, I was planning to buy four new Pirelli Scorpion Verde tyres this week - now seeing this post (and googling 'counterfeit tyres' did not help!) am back to being undecided on tyre brand.

Steve D says he has seen plenty of perished Pirelli tyres. Does this problem apply to all Pirellis? does any member have either Verdes or Zeros that are over say 4 years / 15,000 miles that are not perished in the tread grooves as the OP photos?

My priorities are for good quality all-weather road tyres with quiet ride (below 72 db), any advice would be appreciated.

I have zeros fitted since new - 22months old and about 16k miles and no sign of perishing. That being said they do give a lot of road noise on some surfaces whereas my old motor fitted with wranglers seemed quieter, so the jury is out in my mind as to the time I need re- shoeing.

Perhaps it's because the se has 18inch wheels whereas the gs had 17 inch wheels. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

I checked the used cars at our LR dealer today and found: - several FL2's and Evoques with Pirelli Scorpion Verdes 17, 18 and 19 inch tyres ranging from DOT 2011 to 2015, various wear remaining and car mileages up to 48,000 (plus two with Zeros). Close inspection showed none had any perishing or cracking as shown on OP photos.

Offshore I think that you should demand replacements and request a response from Pirelli as to the cause.

Now you tell me Censored

Laughing

Just replaced the Continentals on my recently acquired Kuga because I had a motorway blow out which wrecked one of them Was told the other three had 2mm left. Bought 4 Pirelli Verde All Seasons.

The previous owner of the Kuga who I have been in contact with via a web site like this posted that the Continentals were the originals. My car has just passed 60,000!!!
