What I would recommend - having just removed the sidesteps in order to combat severe corrosion to the brackets after reading what rust trap they were - is to treat the brackets to some anti corrision coating before fitting. If you can get them galvanised, great otherwise a coat of hammerite or something similar. Do the square tube supports under the steps too whilst you are at it (tho i think they may be galvanised to start with). The brackets really collect a lot of road dirt/salt and mine were in a poor state with most of the paint bubbled and badly rusted. 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto - Stornoway Grey - Hers (His, really)

Thanks, I was worried about corrosion so I sprayed the brackets with hammerite & on reading this will do the tube supports too. Spray didn't really do it that well though, paint probably would have done better.

They are difficult to remove without breaking them. Removal is not as aesy or troublefree as the Powerful Ltd video shows! I would suggest you try and get a handful from LR. My trim now has a few missing but i havent yet tried getting spares so, if you find the part number please do post it up! 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto - Stornoway Grey - Hers (His, really)
