Can anyone with a facelift MY2013 TD4 (or later) help me when they next drive their car? Does your oil pressure light illuminate when the ignition is on?

I’ve just noticed that the oil pressure light doesn’t illuminate on the dash when the ignition is switched on, or come on when the engine is turned off. I’m not even sure where it’s located (assume centre LCD panel next to the battery symbol), the handbook just says it’s fitted. To be honest I’ve never really noticed it. I get in, start the engine and just check there are no warning lights still illuminated before I drive off (The only one I tend to notice is the handbrake light as this model has the EPB). I remember my old MY2007 TD4 having an oil pressure warning light.

I notice that this issue has been mentioned a couple of years ago by one of our Australian friends. In this instance he was told by the local LR dealer that an oil warning light was no longer fitted. However, I wondered if the UK and export models may have a different standard of wiring.

If anyone can help next time they are driving it would be much appreciated.

After several months of ownership, I noticed the same thing with mine. It will be interesting to know if the panel says anything when the engine is first started after an oil filter change, when it takes a little longer for the pressure to build up.
It would be handy if the handbook listed all the messages which the message centre can display...


I forgot to mention that the 2015 version of the handbook is worded differently as regards the oil light. The wording '..illuminates as a bulb check.... ' has been removed.
