Can't help with the methoad of changing the bearing but would be interested to learn of the symptons that you have.
I have a whining noise that goes up and down with the engine revs but stops immediately the AC is switched off. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Why do you think yours needs doing?

ButAC appears tone working normally. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Well as the noise stops with the A/C off I think we can say it is not the compressor clutch bearing as that rotates at all times.
As it only is noisy when the A/C is on I would hazard a guess that the compressor is the culprit. This is a common problem on some Volvos of which I have had my fair share. I have had noise like you only when A/C was on (compressor was at fault) and other cars noise at all times (fault was clutch bearing on the compressor). Bearing changes are fairly easy if the old one comes off, might need an angle grinder with a stubborn one. If I have needed a replacement compressor have always got a second hand one off Ebay.
