United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Baltic Blue
Getting a deep shine

My Trusty FR2 is coming up 3 years old and has behaved impeccably.
Nothing even so irritating as a bulb. Its been just perfect, even when towing abroad.
So very different to my last one that went wrong just about every single week.

I decided I wanted to bring it up to looking like new but recently been purchasing all these expensive paint treatments and polishes, canuaba wax bla bla bla, some of which were 60-70 quid. I have always used the autoglym products for years but still missing that real deep shine. I have always been irritated by all the little swirl marks and the flatness sometimes in the paint even after polishing.

Finally got there ! a mix of some French paint treatment to remove swirls followed by nothing simpler than Turtle-wax cream.
The Abelauto swirl treatment was about 9 euros. I will definatley get some more this year when Im on holiday.

Oh and a little trick for external plastic trim. wipe with olive oil. Adds the natural oils back to the plastic and restores the colour.

Looks good, the only problems I find using olive oil, baby oil or even peanut butter and the like is when it gets wet it leaves water marks and streaking on the paint.

Hmm, strange as I have used olive oil for a few years on another vehicle with grey bumpers as they suffer from fading and the olive oil has really bought them back to factory finish in the last year or so and no streaks anywhere, even on the paint. Jaguar x-type sport gone

So glad I had my door mouldings colour coded prior to fitting - previous car's door mouldings were natural black but came good with judicious use of silicon lubricant. MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

Please forward contact details for Olive Oil. I would like her to pop over and give my Baltic Bluto paintwork a shine like that.
