The really worrying thing about it was, of course, that there had been heats to find the best people to have on the "show". So somewhere out there are worse drivers (probably in tractors), bigger nerds and less accomplished caravanners. The mind boggles!

Only those who go caravanning know what a travesty it was. The rest of the world just think that is what caravaning is all about. Big problem Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own! |

I agree, as a person who has been a member of The Caravan Club for 40 years and used to travel all over the UK with my young family who besides having good holidays learned about many parts of the country that they would be otherwise be ignorant of.(Example when eldest daughter was 11 she went back to school after the summer holidays and was asked by a pal where we had been, and told her Cornwall, pals answer was "where is that"). I was also involved with The Caravan Club Road Rally, The Economy Event and in the very early days caravan racing on Silverstone Circuit. The CC used to be a "Club" for members but is now a multi million pound business which charges extortionate site fees. I have joined a small independent club and am going on a 2 week rally for the price of 2 nights on a big CC site. I have also just had my CC caravan insurance renewal notice wanting £395.00 for a 10 year old caravan.(Admittedly a New for Old policy) but have obtained an alternative quote of £230.00 for the same cover. I am therefore taking this up making a saving of £165.00 and am not going to renew my membership of the CC saving another £43.00 as my new club only charges £5.00 If it had not been for these stupid programmes which must have cost the CC a lot of cash I would probably have just ambled on but now realise that the CC is no longer for me. I can't believe there were real heats, it was obviously a set-up programme, as per other "reality" shows. Can't believe that the Caravan Club thought it would improve the profile of the club! John FL2 11 S Black 😂 Gone Disco2 TD5 GS |

Definitely increased the Caravan Club's profile a lot - just not in the way they intended. Their sites are not as busy as in previous years now - who would risk going to one and getting mixed up in that sort of stuff? Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own! |

Just had it by someone who knows that the caravan is a perk of the job so cost him nothing. Still believe all my statements in my previous post are valid. Bill. Life Honorary Member of Wallasey Motor Club. Licenced MSA Radio Operator for 35+ years. Rallying is the only sport. |
