No, I meant ignore my post that I deleted - I was thinking of an Evoque and posted a link to that! Your one hasn't got the Evoque type dash has it? Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

I thought pre MY13 you could reset the service indicator without a hook up. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

You can reset service indicator but I don't think you can reset the Oil Service Indicator |

My independent mechanic tried all his readers to clear the service required on my car. If I wanted it cleared he could arrange it but he said that it is a reminder and if you are responsible with servicing your car just ignore the message. After a few months I don't even notice it is there anymore..... & I also service and get my cars fixed if and when needed, it is not difficult to do! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Is this were the danger is ? If the DPF starts throwing in extra fuel on a fault in between services for some reason or other you could soon have a engine running on a poor oil spec. I am assuming this type of episode should trigger the warning that is already on and being ignored. Or am I missing something in that logic FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current |

The "oil service visit dealer" is only a reminder. |

There are two things related to service:

The second refers to the oil degradation counter based on the DPF regeneration process. This one can be done only with the help of a dealer or dealer like compatible reset tool.

you need to go to the dealer and have it reset, otherwise as previously said it will cause problems.

I don't think that the "oil service visit dealer" message is linked to oil degradation, because the message pops up to the day every year regardless of mileage. Last edited by Jack frost on 27th Apr 2016 8:27 am. Edited 1 time in total |
