If anyone is interested in getting rid of their old FL2, James French have just taken 3 FL2's all HSE spec petrol SI4's RHD they have been registered as 16 plate vehicles. He has got a black,red and a white all with 100 miles on the clock. The cars were orginally made for Maylasia market but never exported, price is £27,500. Speedometer recalibrated/re-labelled for mph rather than kph given it was intended for Malaysia?

If so, that red one is rather tempting.......

The drive was really impressive Paul such a shame in a way that the SI4 was not made available officially for the FL2 in the UK. However having said that how much extra would LR have charged for the petrol unit and what would the residuals been like A few things that sent alarm bells ringing was that the cars did not have a heated windscreen, heated seats or a heated wheel but I'm sure if it was a UK spec car these would have been available  MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

As an Si4 owner i have to agree, the Ford Ecoboost engine suits it very well.

It's interesting to see the variation in HSE specs depending on the market and perhaps surprising it doesn't have privacy glass for added heat and UV protection (there's a whole new disciussion ) Heated seats would be missed but I could live without heated screen and steering wheel.

Insurance will be more problematic because a petrol HSE will not appear on the insurer's computer system but if the cars otherwise represent good value it's not a big deal. driving on the right side

I never understood why buying a Diesel version if there was the lovely i6 engine available. So much more power and comfort. And I'm best friend with the owner of my next filling station.

After driving decent turbo diesels over the last 20 years I've found virtually all petrols sluggish and disappointing (even including the 308 bhp engine in my last petrol Focus!) They are always found lacking in the bottom end flexibility that shines in something like the PSA 2.2, or the 3.0 V6 in the Disco; it suits the rest of the car so well. I wouldn't go back to petrol by choice!

If it weren't for the question mark over residuals, insurance and service support, these would make a great nearly new alternative to the Hobson's choice of an Evoque or a Disco Sport.

Agreed I cant bear the rev an engine as much as you need to rev a petrol to get the oommpph out of it, doesnt seem right.

Looking back at these photos is making me feel nostalgic for my old Freelander 2!

Seeing them new (or virtually new), it's a good reminder that it was only very recently that Land Rover was building a range of hugely practical, yet good looking cars. The Disco 4 is hanging on in there still; only just though!

The petrol Si4 has more low down grunt than you can imagine. Having driven one, it's a far more responsive drive than the SD4! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
