leather interior question.

Can anyone tell me if all seat fittings are the same for all the fl2 on any year and model.
I know the electrics may differ but i mean basic anchor points.?

the anchor points are all the same, they dont change for different types of seats.
So upgrading to leather is easy
Different model years *may* be different, though its not very likely..
That said, I know when I went to a MY13, the sump guard points were different

A tear has developed in the side bolster of my leather drivers seat through repeated use of the seat. A local upholsterer has said that he can fit a new leather side panel to the seat to match the existing but I'd have to take the seat out of the car for him to do so. I have the HSE model with electric adjustable seats that are also heated so I'm not sure how easy that would be to do?

Any advice would be appreciated or alternatively has anyone had any experience in repairing a year in a leather seat?

You don't need to take out the whole seat. Just the seat cushion. Normally a couple of 10mm bolts under the front edge. Disconnect the electrics and lift out. The side panel in not real leather, by the way, just imitation. Rolling Eyes

Can you explain more - my side panel is split and I have found a local trimmer who is going to replace the panel, so I need to understand how to remove the seat pad.

The seat base is held by 2 bolts only under the front edge. They are not easy to see or even get at, especially if your seat has a fascia panel under the front edge. However, it can be done using a 1/4 drive socket set and 10mm socket. I do not recall how the fascia panel (if fitted) is held on. Possibly clipped. Under the front edge of the seat there are also 2 brackets which hold some electrical fittings. They can get in the way when accessing the two front bolts IIRC. I unclipped/unscrewed them & moved to one side. Once the 2 bolts are removed, lift the seat base at the front & the base will disengage at the rear and lift off. Don't forget the electrics plugs!

I had a good poke around at lunch time and can not spot these bolts, as a thought can anyone pull this in TOPIX as it does not want to play ball with me.

Saw the trimmer yesterday, he advised that he has done about 20 in the past year all with the same issue which means he know how to remove and replace the seat pad.

He can get the whole job done in about three hours, so I just have to book some time off work and he will get it done for me, he was able to do a colour match from material he has in stock.

If anyone in the Bedford area has the same problem and would like the trimmers details please PM me and I will pass on.

Unfortunately I live in the Isle of Man, we don't have the availability of trimmers here.

I'm going to have a go at removing the seat squab next week.

I have exactly the same problem. Have you an idea of cost to replace the side piece. Is he just going to try to get a good match or can he do any shade? He does know it is vinyl and not leather?
