Kurust, turns rust black and then you can paint over it. Used it for years, stuff like red lead and zinc are never satisfactory in my experience. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Then clean off the rust & reapply the rust converter until you get clean metal. Use an etch primer & only paint on a warm dry day. Failing that put a lamp on the car for a few hours until paint is dry. Don't touch the bare metal with your fingers.

You may laugh, but molasses are extremely good for removing rust, diluted between 5 to 9-1. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

Kurust has been around for ages remember using it with my old man over 50 years ago. Did the job then so suppose if they have come up with nothing better will still do the job now. It used to be a grey liquid, I think, that as already stated turns rust black. |

Most of the products described are rust converters, they stabilise the iron oxide and hopefully with a coating process eliminate more rusting, they have limited successes depending on your skill and time spent on preparation together with the final coating.

Google Phosphoric Acid reactions with rust, that's the base for rust converters |
