New owner 2007 FL2, Volvo sat nav disks?

Hi, I have been searching the forum and found old posts relating to sat nav update using genuine Volvo disks that are much cheaper than ones for the FL. Can anyone help me by sending me a link to the most up to date legit dvd from Volvo if it is possible to use them?

Thank you for your time

Paul

If you have been searching the forum you will have seen my posts on the subject. This eBay item number:252363618542 is the same disc set I have. It is only 2009-2010. That is the latest I have seen. I too could do with a later set but I have yet to see one that is likely to be compatible.

Thanks for that Bob, its a shame LR disks are so expensive, I like how it all works together with the audio system tho so might have to bite the bullet.

cheers
Paul

You will see the Volvo RTI set like mine has a Europe map on the box cover. The later RTI versions have what looks like dominoes on the cover. I do not know if they are compatible with the FL2. I we could confirm they are, then we have a source of later updates. Unfortunately I do not know anyone with the appropriate model Volvo! 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Hi, the Volvo RTI disks do work in FL2's.

However, a down side I've not tried too hard to fix (because it doesn't bother me), is the lack of the navigation voice.

After about 2012 (I think) Volvo stopped using RTI P2001/MMM, and started on MMM+ And MMM2 (hard drive) formats and the company they bought RTI discs off stopped doing RTI CD's (think it was called Navteq).

Howeveri there are some up-to-date RTI P2001/MMM discs floating around.

I bought a set of CD's off a European chap on a very well known auction site, and he assured me they were legit. Anyway, they arrived when he said they would, and installed fine, and I've checked the "hidden" Sat Nav screen to see when the updates were from, and they do say 2015. Although, the quicker way for me to tell when they were updated was by driving two miles from my house and checking if a certain road was on the map...which it was.

I guess it's a case of be aware of what you are buying...there are a lot of CDs pertaining to be from a certain year, and they aren't.

Andy

That is good news. My 2009/2010 discs are RTI. What part no's are your discs - & why does your voice not work?

***UPDATED TO GIVE CORRECT INFO***

I was writing from memory last night, and I got it wrong... The Volvo format for our cars are RTI P2001/MMM, but then they moved to proper hard drive Sat Nav's which I believe are MMM+and MMM2.

In fact when I've just looked back to see how I worked it out, I found one of your earlier posts about using Volvo discs, and it was your post which made me take the leap!

Will come back on the part number...the discs I got mysteriously had no Volvo covers on them, but they do work. I went on the auction site to find the chap I bought them off and he isn't selling anything at the moment (might say a lot about the 'genuine' copies he was selling!).

...and the voice....just doesn't work. So I have no one telling me to 'turn right' or 'you have reached your destination'.

Will drop you a PM

There seems to be a legal genuine company in Coventry, with a price of £109 some £60 cheaper than LR outlets for that part number, does it change the LR mimic? Vovo dealerships seem to be £109+Vat, If that is so why are the LR versions so expensive?
Perhaps our friendly sponsors Duckworth Parts can advise their best deal, would think that they would receive quite a few orders at those prices. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

With many TT and Garmin units now being sold with lifetime updates, I am surprised LR etc think they can get away with the prices they charge. Even £109 + VAT is steep in my view. I have just purchased a 2014 set of genuine Volvo discs which should do the job for £22 delivered.

I did go for "aftermarket" sat nav disk which you find easily on google. Why pay extra money if these are more up-to-date and work fine?

Finding out which maps I've currently got?

Hi, I've just picked up a 2009 FL2 with FDSH. Playing with (the most complicated and confusing) sat nav, it seems quite up to date, but I guess the local roads so far haven't changed much. Is there some way to find out which map version it's using?

Also, am I right in thinking update options are:
New discs from LR, about £170 and several years out of date now, or
New discs from Volvo via eBay, about £25 and less out of date, but no voice guidance?

Also, just found there are others selling what they claim are LR2 satnav update discs for £35
<SNIP>

I don't even know if my satnav does DVDs or is it just CD's.... how do I find out?

Thanks, Tom Landrover Freelander 2, 2.2TD4-E manual XS. New to me at 113k miles, after 1 careful owner.

You can check the disk by taking it out of the unit which is under the drivers chair, it should have the version written on the disk.
