thing is with rust you will never get rid of it unless you cut out the rusted metal.

Thought I'd follow this up. Ryan from LRCS has been excellent and the purchasing dealer is arranging for this to be fixed by their body shop who did the work originally. The dealer feels the body shop did not do the job correctly and thus is not a warranty job but is a job for them to do again. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

I think it's 6 years. But as this isn't really manufacturing or part fault, it is down to the body shop who didn't do the job properly to rectify. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues

My hands up. Just been to have a look and guess what? Have what looks like the beginings of some bubbling under the handle. Thanks for the heads up. In exactly the same place. Hope you get yours sorted. Mine is well out of warranty unfortunately.

On your 2007 model: Open tailgate; Remove 2 screws in inner handles; Carefully pull off inner tailgate trim; Remove 4 nuts holding handle; Disconnect electrical connector; pull handle off.

I have just done it recently to get to the tailgate switch. Yes, found rust too considering a facelift handle to add whilst the paint pot is open. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Cheers Bob, Looks like this might be quite a common area for rust. I don't see much about rust on the FL2.

Presently I just cleaned it up a bit and gave it a coat of clear lacquer from another touch up kit I had in the garage. As the facelift handle comes in primer I will get it sprayed to match at the same time I get the tail gate repaired/resprayed as required. My use of the phrase "whilst the paint pot is open" was alluding to getting both jobs done together.

Hi all, got round to removing tailgate handle today. Easy enough, just have to be brave with the panel when removing.
