United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Ive always been a good fan of Indy's,also a very good friend of mine owns one in near rockingham Castle in Northamptonshire.. I now live in Derbyshire so is hard to get there..

I had an issue the this week whereas I fitted genuine tow electrics to my MY2011 GS, I took it to my local indy in Wirksworth Derbyshire, and was disappointed when it rolled out without the electrics programmed, instead they had just turned off the parking sensors, they were using Auto logic and insisted that there was something wrong with either the electrics of my fitting, which i found insulting to say the least.

Anyway, I decided to bite the bullet and call Hunters in Derby, I was told I could book it in.... in 5 weeks time!!

So I decided to pull a cheeky one and just turn up at Hunters and see if they would do it while I waited.. the guys there were brill, he sorted it out for me while I took the lad for a Mcdonalds down the road, got back and was all done with a wash and vac thrown in.. how could I complain at that..

so when I picked it up I booked it in for a B service (in 5 weeks time of course), I mentioned the fixed price servicing and the guy I spoke to admitted he hadnt heard of it, but also that he had only been there for 12 weeks..

Anyway all booked in to Hunters Derby for the start of May for £330, and the misses is excited for a nice courtesy car for the day.. Thumbs Up

It just shows you that sometimes a dearler IS best, dont get me wrong I will still use Rockingham Land Rovers for somethings as I have known them for a very long time but for the servicing I will probably stick to Hunters if they keep up the good service.

If theres one thing that bugs me its bad service, which seems to be getting more common in all industries, but for now I am impressed with Hunters.. although I dont think my MY04 FL or MY86 Defender will look very good in their carpark si I'll do the work on those for now... England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

they may well look at the defender and say ''where is the OBD port on these?'' Rolling with laughter

For defenders/disco 1&2/RR Classic and P38 I don't think you can beat Tonks 4x4 in Huthwaite just by J28 M1. (IMO of course) so for anything that is too big or too major for you Browny might be worth looking at.

He has diagnostics for later Disco RR and FL but doesn't like working on them, he prefers the older stuff (which apparently are rocketing in price particularly if they have original matching numbers for export to USA)

Taz, are you sure the LR/ FL2 is still 36mths, I was informed it was reduced to 24mths by my main dealer. However that branch is also a Volvo dealer

I was told it was 3 years or 3rd service, the list above is pulled from the net, so may not be accurate but it indicates that LR are not alone in the brake fluid change regime.

I was trying to think of a saying I once heard ... A £10 crash helmet is perfectly fine if you have a £10 head Laughing its a choice at the end of the day, for £50 I choose to have the fluid changed.

I had it changed, it was the fact it wasn't going to be changed at 3 yrs, so in theory it may never have been changed until the 4th year as they were counting in years by 2, and not using previous records Rolling Eyes my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

I now have a quandry in that the service record for my new car is held on line by LR - how do we get over that???

Download a duplicate service book from TOPIx, and either get the dealer/ indy to stamp it or staple in the printout from the dealer. Doesn't look as attractive but fulfills the function. Dealer printout should give details of all dealer services so far.

Thanks for the tip Thumbs Up Thumbs Up MY 09 GS manual in Lago Grey, Wood Co arm rest and side bumper strips - now sold.

In answer to 'Tenet', create a login here
https://osh.landrover.com/login
and view your service record online, print off if needed.

That's fine, but it doesn't give you a service book, which you'll need if you use a non-LR garage. Hence the possible need to download a "replacement" (for the one they no longer give you). Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
