Return to Stock tyres

Hi All,
After 35,000 Miles on my GG tyres, I have returned to the stock Continental tyres.
GG are great but when tread gets low, the noise is incredible.
Got a great price for the Conti's so very pleased to be back where I started. Hit it he said, Hit it!--So I hit it, then he hit me---Doh!

I have the Continental tyres on mine (235x60xR18) at the moment. Bought the car last year and will need to change tyres
in about 4000 miles or so,

Interested in your comments about the GG noise as I was thinking about fitting them. May think again now!

Wonder what size wheels and GG tyres you had?

Hi There, I had 235/55/19 GG on
They were great tyres but after 35,000 miles were just too noisy.
Remember Conti's that came with car were quieter and longer lasting, but then I have done in total OVER 67000 MILES IN 14 months or so, so can't complain. Hit it he said, Hit it!--So I hit it, then he hit me---Doh!

Same story here, more or like. Swapped from Conti's to Nokian's (the EnTyre) once the OEM Contis had worn out due to the longer advertised life of the Nokians. This "thread life" turned out to be true, but the EnTyre became crazy noisy past 50,000kms (different compounds for inner and outer carcass?), so I sold it as a used set when it was at 60,000kms (it's got a 100k warranty), and went back to the Conti Cross Contact UHP.

Well, Had the Conti's on for about 4,500 miles, from day one a bumpy uncomfortable ride, thinking it was balancing, tracking, wheel bearing etc- had everything checked-even had wheels balanced 4 times, last week in Holland (128 Euro's!!!!)
still not right.
called back into supplying garage, explained the problem, they had no hesitation in replacing them (full set) today with Pirelli Scorpion verde's- result, smooth, no lumps or bumps, all as should be.
cannot thank Hoole Tyres enough for their solving this problem and making me a happy bunny again. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Hit it he said, Hit it!--So I hit it, then he hit me---Doh!

+1 for the Pirellis. They give a much more pleasant ride than the Contis, better in the rain and quieter. Let's see how they wear.

the dealer fitted 4 new Pirelli Scorpion Zeros to my FL2 when I bought it. I had 17'' GG on my last FL2 and the noise difference over exactly the same roads is amazing. Really happy with the Pirellis after 10,000 miles in 6 months.

I'm still on the Continental tyres UHPs and at 27000 miles they are wearing well, would I get them a again...never. Dry weather, brilliant tyre come wet weather nightmare on the motorway. I've had too many incidents of aquaplaning and lost all faith in them so I think the Pirelli tyre will be my next choice. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Scorpion Verde, a world of difference to my old Contis. Wet grip is streets better and they're quiet.

Quite happy with the OEM 18" 235/60 Continental CrossContact, also during the occasional offroad. They are no AT's, but we didn't expect them to be.
The thread is getting smaller, so I am bought a new set of 17" OEM wheels with the GY Wrangler M&S 17" 235/65 ...
Curious how they compare to each other

With reasonable tread you will aquaplane at 9 times the square root of your tyre pressures which is well below the m/way speed limit, your aquaplaning is pure luck depending on rainfall and water collection on that part of the M/way, nothing to do with the tyres Sad my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
2012 HSE SD4 In Orkney Grey now gone, best car ever.
