Electrical ticking noise

Recently I had a problem starting my 07 after a cold -17ºC night.
In between unsuccessful cranks I noticed an electrical type ticking noise from the front of the engine compartment.
Eventually the car started and the noise was still there on tickover but stopped after a couple of minutes.
I have also noticed the noise when I have inserted the key fob to initiate the ignition, again it goes after a short time.
the sound is similer to a continual electrical short somewhere - any ideas? Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Thank you for a 'sensible' reply!
I will check that out.
I have since read in the owners manual NOT to touch the throttle when starting the car, just insert the key fob and touch the start button - I know I did depress the throttle when trying to get it started so perhaps touching the throttle engages the plastic cog and has damaged some teeth. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Mine makes all sorts of clicking and whirring sounds once its opened up and you put the key in, I just assume its the computer waking up the systems, because I dont use my FL2 very often, last time was November come to think of it Shocked , it gets used to having a lie in. Very Happy

Yes, it is definately the the throttle body/motor - on one of the threads about it someone had posted a recording of the 'noise' and it was identical to mine.
The -17ºC temperature was at 8,000ft in the village of Cervinia in the Italian Alps.
I think my next job after the throttle housing will be to replace the glow plugs but that is a bitch of a job as the intake manifold has to come off - perhaps I will leave that to my INDY Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Laughing didn't think it was Warwickshire!
Taking off the inlet manifold may be an opportunity to remove the swirl flaps?

Job done and a real fiddle as well.
Would definitely reccomend a long reach TORK driver with a magetic tip - fi you drop a bolt while working in this area it will be sods law that it ends up in the tray under the engine which is almost impossible to get at or remove - rusted bolts etc.
Pic of the Kn*****ed parts attached.
