Well some well designed cars do, my MINI has a cable release stored under the rear seat to pull to open it in a power loss event, i dont think they thought about that with the FL2?

You may be able to get the boot floor up from inside but as it lifts and slides out with the tailgate open you may have to pull it up from inside breaking it,if it's a right off I don't think you will be bothered about breaking it. |

It is a real problem. The only way I found was to dismantle the tailgate from the inside, then unbolt the latch from the lower sill. Tailgate opens then complete with the lower sill plate and trim. Not easy! And yes, you can open the boot storage panel from inside, once the seats are folded down of course!

I'd be a bit careful connecting up any source of power to a car that's been in a fire. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Have a look at this thread. You can put power directly to the solenoid in the tailgate to release it.

If you have tow electrics power can be fed in from there, but whatever you do dont start another fire! Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own! |

the rear edge slides into a retainer, to lift I'm sure you have to slide forward slightly too Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis |

If all else fails I find the Manchester Screwdriver Type Approach works.
