Filter from Volvo for less than £30. Oil still to source locally so may have to have posted on at carriage cost plus oil. Not green but I guess neither are Land Rovers. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Lots of postings here and its to a point of getting quite confusing. I think I can follow the drift but:

What seals the Haldex to the rear diff to stop any external oil leaks? Am I right in saying JUST a very large "O" ring and no face to face sealants. If so anyone know the correct part number or if it can be reused? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

You could also try Bell Engineering - site sponsors, they do a Haldex service kit, complete with enough oil to drain and refill. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Just received my Haldex Servicing kit from Bell Engineering, excelent service and quick delivery. Vehicle needs service this month, at my local independent , so he will also do the Haldex. Have only done 45000 miles but after reading posts on here about filthy filters and oil decided to be better safe than sorry. Now waiting for Dan at Duckworth Parts to send my front and rear discs and pads so I can fit them before the MOT.
Expensive month Sad

Thanks for the positive feedback guys.

When i carry out a service i remove the haldex from the car, remove motor (and disassemble it) and filter, clean it all out thoroughly and put new filter in.

I can do this while you wait in the pub at the top of the road, and happy to do it on evening and weekends to fit around you.

Cost is £130. www.bellengineering.co.uk

Shame you cant do a tour of the North. Bow down

Oil has arrived from you guys today and I will be doing the filter and oil as soon as we get some decent weather but at that price I would not bother to do it myself if I was more local. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

You can fit a 4 to a 3, but will need autologic software to enable it. You can't go the other way though www.bellengineering.co.uk

Change of plan. Decided I'd rather have Austen at Bell Engineering service my Haldex. I stayed the night B&B in Austen's
village pub and sampled a few pints of the local Hobsons ales, he collected the FL, serviced the Haldex and returned it in
less than 2 hours. Excellent friendly service, well recommended Very Happy The ale was good too!

Without being biased, the local brew, Hobsons, is absolutely fantastic! The brewery is about 500m from the pub/b&b, it's the brewerys official pub, and they make about 6 different beers so you can mix and match all night. If you time it right you can go on the brewery tour too, now that is a good night! Open bar and food for £20! Possibly my favourite night out possible!! www.bellengineering.co.uk

Haldex Serviced by Austen at Bell Engineering

Bit the bullet and drove down to see Austen at Bell Engineering Bow down and now had the Haldex out and cleaned and new filter put in. Car has done just less than 40,000 miles in just over 3 years.

Austen took a couple of photographs and if he picks up this thread maybe he could find the time to show them.

So the prognosis was (I hope this is correct). Serviceable throwaway filter not desperate as some but the pump filter was at least 2 thirds blocked so trouble just around the corner. Oil in poor state and laced with clutch plate debris and therfore pumping out some of the old oil at home and doing the filter would be doing half a job.

My view is its was worth the expense as I am not going to get a hair dressers version of a LR and will certainly hang onto her until we see if the new Defender cuts the mustard. Very Happy

Nice meeting you Austen and thanks. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
