Hi I'm new here just bought the freelander 2 and it has a lot of black smoke coming from the exhaustand its jigging in first gear changing into second any ideas what the problem may be hoping its not too expensive any help would be appreciated

Could be any number of things but first things I would check are all the turbo/intercooler hoses. They are known to split & I have at least one on mine gone at the moment

The one directly below the throttle body is often the first to go.

ps a simple search would have brought up any number of results by the way (Now Sold). 2008 Freelander 2 (Nazca Sand) SE TD4 Auto. Statutory write off & on WOVR for hail damage but still road legal.

Agree about checking the turbo hoses, but really you need to get fault codes read. Could save you a lot of work/expense trying to find the fault. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
