The weight it will carry is partly how it affects the stability and handling of the vehicle when cornering more than anything rather than how much the roof will take before it damages it.

Including the roof racks. In the instructions that came with my LR Cross Bars LR002417 which are on the LR Roof Rails. 64 Kg maximum load. So the rails & bars must add up to 11 Kg. Static load is a bit more, if you put a roof tent up there (25kG) and then two people (110kg + 48kg) you have well exceeded the 75kg. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

75kg doesn't seem much, but bear in mind that the roof bars will still have to hold the load firmly in place even if you hit something fairly hard. I've had well secured roof bars slide forward over an inch just under heavy braking. |

I used a roof box for the first time last year, I little apprehensive initially, didn't budge and you forget it's there after a while, as for the weight limit, it is more than ample for normal use, pack a suitcase to 23kg, the airline normal limit, and try lifting it up there |

Be careful when thinking about putting bikes on the roof - it's a long way up.
