got my car back the other day

Drivers B-Pillar replaced, passengers hasn't but i can live with the wear on that for now.

Didn't have to throw the reference number at them, just made it quite clear it needed doing  Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I got my seat belt and B pillar replaced last week - they ignored the wear on the passenger side. I had a quick look and the drivers side looks like it's wearing already.

I too had some wear starting to show on my B pillars, however I might just found some remedy to counter Land Rover's poor choice of materials...

Simple clear nail polish !

Took my wifes clear nail polish and applied 3 layers of polish around the area where there is friction between the belt and the B pillar. Since nail polish was applied, no pillar wear is visible.

I assume some polish wear will occur in time, but it is much easier to apply another layer than replacing B pillars.

The nail polish is also very easy to remove if needed and does'nt appear to leave any trace.

Certainly worked for me, but try at your own risk.

It's all good as long as it doesn't get on your collar and your wife believes you when you say it's hers!!

Nice little trick there CK....I think it will take a lot of layers to fill in the worn amount on mine!

I wonder why cars have this problem these days when I don't recall issues years ago on cars...cost reductions leading to the use of a softer plastic  Once you've tasted GREY you'll never go back!

I asked my wife to bring the nail polish and see me apply it on the car, so I'm covered...
But good idea... Next time I'll ask for her lipstick and tell her I'm just fixing the paint, and guess what it keeps rubbing on my collar

But back to the real subject...
This isn't a trick to treat already worn B pillars (although it did make the wear on mine unnoticed).
This actually prevent the wear on the B pillar The belt now runs smoothly and doesn't eat into the plastic.

My dealer only changed the trims, BUT the TSB says change the belts too if they are XXX part Number

So either my car has none wearing seatbelts that wear the B piller OR

I am following this thread now from day one, and I am monitoring my B-pillar with regard to any wear -but I do not find any. My Freely 2 is now 14 months old and I can not find any wear anywhere - particularely not on the B-pillar. Do I look at the wrong place? Or are the Freely's for the German market are of better quality? I am simply confused, as this issue is not known in Germany at all. Alternatively, what are you British fellows doing with your seat belt that B-pillar wear is so evident?

you have to wear the seat belt for it to wear out you know



Mine worn on the plastic surrounding the adjustable height selector, were the belt comes out.

My dealer told me i was putting my seatbelt on wrong

Just FYI, don't hold your breath for the B-Pillar trim and seat belt replacement...
On a brand new GS I got when I had mine in for service, the B-Pillars already showed wear and that was for a less than 500 miles new car.

It's just plain simple cheap plastic that is being used for the B-Pillars, nothing more than that.
You can keep replacing it, but it will wear out.

My trick with nail polish (see couple of posts above) did stop the wearing though.
