Does anyone know if the tie-rods are replaceable for the LR2 / Freelander 2? I can find the tie rod ends for sale everywhere, but tracking down the actual rod itself is proving to be difficult. If it is replaceable does anyone know the part number, and what size tool I'll need to remove it?

lrparts.ru site doesn't let you click on the tie-rod itself to get a part number, which to me would imply that the tie-rod itself isn't a stocked part number in its own right, but just the end parts are (which you can find easily as you say) I assume then that the tie rods and steering rack come as one piece.

Hi, recently I noticed that I can twist tie rods with my hand. Same like this guy in the video:

Is it normal, or should I replace outer tie rods? It's the same on both sides. I have MY08 SE TD4.

To me the movement in the video is normal, after all it is a ball and socket joint so you should be able to twist it. YOu will know if they are going if you can make the ball rattle in the socket (if you see what I mean). I haven't had a track rod end go for years. The rubber seals used to split and let dirt in and then they would get loose. If it's stiff and the rubber is intact it's OK. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Why do people keep posting links to companies without using the site sponsors, most forums actively support their sponsors but not on here.

Don't forget you need a ball joint separator to take them apart but you might also need a nut splitter if your nuts are stiff. Misuse of these items can be very painful  3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
