Hi new here please help

Bought the above freelander2 ed4 last weekend travelled from Bristol back home to Essex without a problem
On the Tuesday the wife put diesel in and on way home em light came on and car went into limp mode with decreased power warning on dash
I had a look turned car off turned it back on 20 mins later and all was fine that was until today once again put diesel in and same again happened after about 20 miles so turned it off again and restarted a short while later and everything fine again then drove about 80 miles home and no problems .

The car was an ex lease car and by the looks of it has full documented main dealer history however from paperwork the lease ended in December 2015 and I purchased in March so may have been stood still for a couple of months

I'm thinking along lines of fuel filter the car was empty of fuel when I picked it up

You are probably on the right track with your thoughts re filter - for a few quid its well worth changing the fuel filter a blockage in which which can cause limp mode. Sounds like filling up is dislodging crud causing poor fuel flow - only changing will confirm that.
Having said that to be certain of the cause of the error message it would be better if you could get the error codes read in case it's something else (very easy to fix the wrong problems)

Search the forum for advice on fitting filter especially priming the new one before trying to start her up

Hello and welcome to the Freelander.

If you are still having problems with the car after a fuel filter change. I can recommend a Indie in Essex. They are LR Engineering near Braintree. I have use them many times in the Past. Always good. full diagnostic available. I am now in living in Australia, we like the car so much we brought it with us. There are many things that can bring the car into limp mode. get it checked out using a computer should flag up what's wrong.
I have the Hawkeye diagnostic unit from Bearmach find it ok if you are able to do your own servicing etc.

I have had this caused by fuel filter on one FL2 and then by exhaust temp sensors twice on another.

I know the guys at LR they used to service my old LSE range they certainly know there stuff I'll be using them as I live in Braintree .
