Climate Comtrol - recirculate

Hi, has anyone figured out how to keep the recirculate function locked on? Pressing and holding the button until it flashes 3 times does the trick, however when the ignition is turned off it then reverts back to fresh air intake. Any ideas on how to override this?

I didn't know about the 3 seconds trick Thumbs Up

I presume it's to do with the dusty outback roads and not wanting them in the cabin

I would assume out there, it would be more economical to recirc the air-conditioned air......and they dont suffer the "mist-up" issues we would have here in the UK? '57 FL2 GS

Npinks and Mburton2 you are correct, my query was primarily based on the high temperatures that we travel in and any help in keeping the dust out of the interior can only be a good thing. As Chicken George points out too much CO2 could be an issue, however I have not noticed this so far (maybe I've been too drowsy to notice?). Dehydration from the air conditioning is easily over come and probably not as bigger concern as the sun trying to fry us.

I never really saw the point of recirc until I drove in Switzerland / Austria with local drivers and they use it every time you are coming up to a tunnel to stop the fumes being drawn into the car. And some of their tunnels are long. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!

Im sure my Audi had an Auto recirc linked to a pollution sensor... never really found a use for that in rural Yorkshire. At work

My FL2 is TD4 HSE and I can select "auto" or "manual" or "both off" when pressing the recirculation button.
Anyone knows the difference for the three modes?

Bill, we have a TD4 SE, when I press the recirc button it will either turn on or off the recirc, it has NO effect on the ‘auto’, ‘manual’ or ‘off’ functions. Maybe some HSE owners can verify what occurs on their vehicles, as it might be an idiosyncrasy between the two models?

As for the difference between the auto & manual functions, the user handbook states “The system will adjust the heat output, blower speed, air intake and airflow distribution to maintain the selected temperature(s) and reduce misting without further adjustments. There are two tell-tale indicators on the Auto button. The round indicator represents the blower control, and the rectangular indicator the air distribution control. In fully automatic mode both indicators illuminate, the round indicator will extinguish if the blower speed is changed manually, and the rectangular indicator extinguishes if the air distribution is changed manually. To resume fully automatic operation at any time, press the AUTO button.”

Hope that this goes some way to answering your query.

As I understand Rolling Eyes the recirc control on the HSE;
Auto- the pollution sensor and other systems, maybe, decide whether fresh air or recirculated air is used;
Manual - Recirculated air is used exclusively;
Off- fresh air is used exclusively. Don`t drive faster than your angel can fly!
