Hi, I have replaced battery and subsequently removed to fit the extra earth lead on my 2007 GS. No problems other than windows will require resetting for one shot operation and I have central locking set for global opening and this had to be reset.

While you have spanners out, check the earth lead from chassis to gearbox. Mine was loose at the gearbox end when I got her and caused intermittent starting problems.

Well worth fitting extra earth. Engine spins over faster and very rarely get the HDC warning.

How old is your battery. When I replaced mine in december last year found it was the original and 9 years old. That helped a lot on cold starts.

If you are on the original battery I would have replaced it years ago. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Talking of batteries, not very impressed with the Landrover branded Varta 700cca 80ah battery I fitted only 3 and a bit years ago. Pegged out - down to 11.3 volts - should look up the guarantee to see if it is still covered.
Replaced it with a Yuasa 800cca 85ah - perfect fit. I have Yuasa in my Hondas- original Honda fit and good batteries - may report if it is not still sparking in a few years. I never got around to fitting the second earth strap incidentally and have never needed it - but I sprayed the terminal with waxoyl from new so perhaps that has kept the earth contact good.
