Understandable if the modification has anything to do with the claim, Man U stickers on a car parked near Anfield. Corsa etc stolen for the £1000 + music system.

Don't think they would get anywhere refusing a claim because of stickers in the rear window if you ran into the car infront though. Mine, Saab convertible

Just another way of insurance companies charging ever increasing premiums coupled with a solid reluctance to pay out a genuine claim.

If they arent going to pay after taking hundreds in premiums you might as well just have third party insurance only for a few quid then, and invest the rest in a
high interest account abroad.

Personally I've never known a problem with insurance companies paying out.

Son in law has just had his car in for insurance repair, no problem when he insisted it went to BMW for repair. He told them he needed an estate car so that they could fit everything in for a holiday they had booked and they gave him an X1 with 72 miles on the clock. They even told him that in the event of his being a right off he would be able to keep the X1 for a further 3 weeks.

I had a tyre go on my caravan last year, it was collected by their approved repairer, three days later the told me it was a right off, same afternoon had an offer that was £500 more than I had paid for it 6 months earlier, when I told him that he just said he'd looked at what they were selling for and his valuation was based on what he thought it would cost me to replace it with the same. I could have claimed for around £150 of damaged contents but their offer was so good I didn't bother. Mine, Saab convertible

My insurance costs £600 a year for my Freelander direct line told me its because I live in a high risk area, I live on the edge of Buckland in the moor nearest neighbour is 200 yards away. Tried on line price comparisons to find it only £30 cheaper then without the commercial business use as I have business and social and domestic pleasure had to be insured to carry tools inside for work or they won't pay out if its stolen.

My Freelander was hit at work by Tesco home delivery last September to which I had to make my first ever claim as I needed a new rear door. The insurance company is saying it partial blame Censored nobody was in the car!.

Could be worse
10 years no claims (one rear end shunt 5 years ago that didn't go through my insurance as I went for his insurance personally), £930 NFU, OK business use as an electrician, but £930 Shocked

House insurance Evil or Very Mad . Electric bikes in garage, battery on one decided to self combust, taking both bikes garage door and loads of other kit. Claimed for new door and both bikes, they paid TOWARDS the door but wouldn't pay for the bikes as "they are electric vehicles sir". This went on for over 6 months, eventually got though to a lass with some sense and the ability to make decisions who said "of course they are bikes" and we were paid out within days.
Good job I didn't claim for the tools that had been ruined, or that I ended up putting a new roof on, we would still be waiting.

Just a word of warning, lithium batteries are full of chemical energy - forget the electrical energy, when they decide to die it can be quite "spectacular". They are in essence two pastes separated by a plastic membrane, this membrane is very expensive, so if you can make it thinner you can drastically reduce your manufacturing costs, - that's what the cheap guys do.
Now these pastes when separated are fairly safe, get a pinhole in the membrane and a chemical reaction takes place, this reaction produces heat that melts the membrane, this larger hole produces more chemical reaction, which produces an even larger hole. You get he idea.
Pouring water on the flames speeds up the reaction - don't try this at home children, or even in the garage for that matter. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner

Laughing

In a previous life we developed a piece of equipment that required a bespoke lithium polymer battery that we had to design and get approved ourselves.

We screwed up the original prototype of the battery - apparently we managed to get it "cherry red" before it finally blew and took out the entire test bench at the testing house.....

Ah - those were the days.....

Very Happy
