This particular towing electric kit should have basic lighting functions programming the module activates trailer stability and dash indicator lamp etc. I would recheck all the connecting plugs and earth connections before having it activated. Any good tow bar fitting workshop or independent specialist will be cheaper to program the unit. If not speak to your local dealer.

Thanks turboextreme for the fast reply, Now I know the trailer lights should work without the update I will check everything again in case I have missed something. I plugged a trailer / car tester in the socket and all the lights flashed until I plugged the trailer in when only one light stayed on, still nothing on trailer.

Yes you still need to install the relay and fuses in order for the electrics extra functions to work ie 12v caravan live. The only difference on the later models is no programming is required as every thing gets recognised automatically. Early models need programming to activate the towing module which also activates the stability control etc.

Just checked all the wiring again and made sure the earth is OK, Made sure all fuses are in place and not blown, but all I can get is outputs to lights and indicators just strobing as soon as ignition is turned on, operating electrics make no difference at all, permanent 12v is OK.

It could be that the module supplied with the wiring is faulty causing a poor can bus signal or that its not activated. I would speak to the main agent or supplier to confirm this as you never know if land rover has done this deliberately to stop DIY installations. |

Does your trailer have LED lights. Quite a few makes (including Land Rover) have problems with LEDs because they don't use enough power. Mine, Saab convertible
