Start with 'we buy any car' then add what you would like, bearing in mind anyone who looks will most likely use that site to beat you down, its then up to your charm and persuasion to get them to part with more. |

If you start to set up an advert on ebay they give you an indication of how much similar vehicles are going for. Note however that add-on extras add nothing to resale value and if you take it to a dealer it doesn't even matter how clean or dirty it is as long as it has a few months MOT, a service history and that there are no warning lights on. I once took a car in and it had new discs and pads all round and the salesman ignored it. Generally they don't even drive the car around the block. Selling privately depends very much on where you live, in my experience if you live outside of a large town then people don't want to travel to see it. Advertising on this forum might be a good bet though. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Use Ebay and Auto Trader. Expect to end up amazingly close to the WBAC price, as everyone uses it as a guide. Don't rely too much on this forum - we all have one already! Sell any removable extras - you may like them, but they do no help to the final price.

I would be interested to know what proportion of cars get sold privately. I guess it increases as the cars get older and cheaper. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I think that would be easy to sell privately with six months LR warranty remaining. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

Out of interest, when my son traded his FL2 in recently he pointed out that it still had a couple of months extended warranty. The dealer said it wouldn't make any difference to the value as it would have to be transferred to the new owner and the car would not be sold by them anyway and in any case would have to go out with a longer warranty from whoever sold it, and that could take a month or two. In fact I subsequently found the car via eBay on a 4x4 dealer forecourt and it's not been sold yet after a couple of months. It's a 60 reg GS with 78k for £12450. he got £9k trade in. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
