I don't quite get the Admin reasons for removing the links or company, the navigation system is not exclusive to JLR and was a system used in many cars, the process of updating the maps is fairly easy, one only needs to buy a cheap nav unit using Navteq maps with a lifetime up date. load the units maps to a PC, load the original CD to the PC remove the map data from the CD to a folder. replace the removed files from the CD folder with the uploaded cheap unit files, burn the folder to CD. You've bought the unit to use the maps, what you can't do is sell the maps, that's the illegal bit. Updating that way obviously will not update the LR units software, that is contained on the original disc.
The LR unit now being superseded may well have been sold along with its patents, or the patents expired therefore updates from other sources may well be legal, but without the LR logo my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

It's illegal, what's not to get?
We are sponsored by legitimate and very helpful companies, why should we turn a blind eye to those after making a quick buck on the back of others hard work?

As said they find a loophole to operate in, so accourding to the UK IP laws it is legal! But still stinks i agree on that.

Regarding "hard work" a company that sells an update disc for 200euro? Hard work Laughing

You have to look at it that the maps software are now owned by Nokia, a company based in Finland that lost a fortune when it got its mobile phone business forecast wrong, question is it it morally right to screw owners of an ancient built in system over £150 for maps and possible upgraded firmware on an inferior product whilst supplying the same map software to owners of stand alone GPS units for free. Did I want the unit, no, but it came with the opening sunroof, not a bargain Sad my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

It's absolutly OK to remove the direkt links because these DVDs are not legal. I know what I'm talking about, I have some here on my desk, they have all the same part number from old original LR disks but cover different regions ....

But every child can nowadays google this ....

Again, the reason the sites that sells copies of navi DVD's in the UK are still open and the law enforcement can not shut them down is because they are LEGAL!!!

I updated my maps using official Volvo discs bought off the 'bay. These are only to 2011 IIRC but I have had them a few years. Not sure if the later Volvo discs are compatible though.

Well it's a while back, the cd I got was a sort of UK & USA mix quite funyn lot of USA terminology like no roundabouts just traffic circles,
Seems to work and has the cancel trip on the menu also seems to be fairly up to date

There's a guy on eBay now selling OEM MMM2 discs and makes it very clear he does not sell fake discs, rather they are legitimate OEM discs at £29.99 a disc

Has anyone actually done this? It sounds really easy but the files in my Garmin Zumo 550 just don't match the files on the DVD in any way shape or form. MY13 Santorini Black SD4 HSE
