Avtur - can't you persuade the bean counters in the company to let you have the Volvo C30 auto - it is available with 3 diesel engine sizes and 2 different types of auto boxes - one being the Powershift the other is a conventional 5 speed auto? It is smaller than a V50 but so much more stylish How can carbon have a footprint, it has no feet?
Now driving - RRE Coupe Dynamic Lux Auto with Plus pack, Fuji White, Ebony, SD4 with tow pack
Gone - 2010MY FFRR TDv8 Stornoway and Ivory, Privacy - the pace of a TDv8 RRS, the incomparable grace of a Range Rover
Gone but will be missed- RRS Tdv8 HSE Stornoway Grey with Ebony Leather
Gone (only a little missed) RRS Tdv6 2.7SE Giverny Green/Aspen

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Tim, Yep C30 is an option, the 2.4 D5 Geartronic would be a quite a motor (big engine smallish car!), only problem with the C30 is its too small for shed tugging, dog carrying and all the other 'work horse' tasks that my car has to perform.

Interesingly the C30 is more expensive, model for model, on lease cost than the V50 which is a more expensive car. Looking at the costing detail it seems the residuals on the V50 are a bit stronger. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

I've just created a value index (bang for the buck) on my list of 750 cars/models relating monthly cost to the purchase price of the motor. Its a very crude measure but here goes...

The best value car of the list is Jag X type Estate 2.2D with an index of 1.21 and the joint worst worst are LR2i6HSE and Jaguar XF-SV8 with an index of 2.34, my beloved FL2GS comes in at 2.07. The best value LandRover on the list is the LR3 GS Auto scoring 1.84.

Like I say its a very crude measure, but quite intersting, in a nerdy sort of way ! Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

If you press the big round knob to the left hand side of the stereo it does mute the sound without question.[/quote]

Yeh well done Chris!
I rather ment on the steering wheel controls (on a GS) or via the blue tooth telephone system!

The one one the wheel is a bit more convenient ... Thumbs Up

My last car had a mute control on the steering wheel, I must admit it is a function I like to have. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

My radio automatically mutes when the phone rings or I make a call and when the bloody parking sensors start beeping.

To mute at will you could always press the ‘mode’ button on the steering wheel, if you haven’t got anything plugged into the Aux audio point the radio will mute.

same here SE radio Thumbs Up

Normally a nokia kit would have a extra lead to plug in the radio to mute the radio, i presume its not available for the FL2 Confused Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Tried the mode button on steering wheel, it only switches between CD and tuner, and menu button on unit just brings the clock setting up, the nokia kit has a wire for muting but won't connect to the radio.
my fault for being a GS cheap skate!

I thought all FL2's had an Aux input which can be accessed through the mode button.

What you can do is fit a KRAM Telemute Lead. I had one fitted to my BMW which worked a treat, it muted the radio and allowed me to use the vehicles own speakers for the phone call. I fitted it myself, no cables to cut and splice just unplug radio, plug in telemute and plug radio cables into telemute. They even supplied a cable for my Bluetooth kit that supplied power etc directly from the radio, again no cutting or splicing.

I have had a quick look on the Kram website and they do a lead for the LR2, its item code is 68503, the following link has some info.

Hope this helps
