Groaning/creaking noise when pulling out at a junction

Wondering if anyone can shed any light our MY14 XS manual has developed a groaning creaking noise which appears to be coming from the rear of the car. It only happens when the car is in first gear and the wheels are turned left or right on a full or half lock whilst pulling out at a junction whilst she is stationary or doing a few mph.

I don't drive this car often but I had it for most of today and its intermittent and more noticeable in the cold (so I've been told) turning left or right is no problem once the car is motion and roundabouts again she behaves well.

Anyone experienced any similar symptoms at all. I have done a search and could not find anything. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

I was getting very similar on my Freelander when I wrote on here back in November.

When pulling off, I was getting a creak/groan from the rear of the vehicle. that started getting worse over time. I checked the springs and tried to see if there was any worn bushes as best as I could but nothing. My MOT was due soon so I left the problem thinking they might find something worn on the inspection.

Then a week before the MOT all 4 tyres were down on their limits so I had them all replaced and whether that helped or it was purely coincidence but the noise stopped and hasn't come back.

Towards the end the creak/groan was quite loud before it disappeared, like I said it may have been complete coincidence but the noise went straight away with new tyres.

Sounds like haldex locking as you pull away on full lock. I saw this on one of our FL2s 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Sounds like the drive being locked up. I used to have a Frontera and my kids used to like to turn the 4 WD on whilst I was driving through multistorey car parks where you would get a lot of tyre squeel and noises a bit like the one in the video (it was a company car). My guess is that the haldex is either stuck on permanently or not releasing when you reach a certain road speed. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

It is nothing like the noise that the golf has in the video. Heading up later to see the car. It more of a groaning/shaky rumble noise Confused Which appears to be coming the rear of the car under the spare wheel area. The tyres have about 55% life left in them so it's not the tyres. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

With the larger wheels on the car, would this mean more torque going through the diff for a given speed as opposed to stock size wheels?
To my mind this would seem to be the case, 13k is very low and quite unusual on later cars to have diff faults.

Hope it gets sorted Thumbs Up

It's our XS Taz running on the stock 17s mate. I am very surprised that the Haldex has failed we've owned it from new. Will post some pictures up tomorrow. MY14 Kahn Converted Dynamic - Fuji White Ebony/Pimento Interior

Embarassed it does say, didn't realise you had another, that mileage is low though, as with anything, there will always be faulty ones. Keep us informed on what they actually change.
Pretty much all the previous 'diff' faults have been the bearing and not the diff, yours sounds like it may be the diff itself.

Although it is clearly the Haldex making the noise, remember it is the ECU & software that is controlling it. Fault could be there.

Here she is really hacked off this has happened, on such a low mileage car. The dealers have diagnosed the Haldex as the issue but it's on back order atm.
