Did you try that guy who did our drive Rog? I sent you a PM several months ago with his number when you first mentioned getting your drive done. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

never got an answer mate, just rang out then kind of forgot about it as finances changed.

its always going to be cheaper to do the labour myself, its just finding the time to do it but the neighbour is very good (ive seen his building work as well as his own drive and he replastered my large kitchen and study at a good price)

bit of hard graft never hurt anyone Very Happy (my son is in for a shock when I throw him a shovel to help Laughing )

no prob Thumbs Up

ive got some PDF files they sent me with the marketing blurb etc on it but they are pretty informative with some nice pictures Very Happy

I noticed on the email though that the price he quoted was a trade price, so I may need to get my builder to order it under his company name.

this is the 'authorised quote' I got
=========================================================================

Re Quotation For Core Drive 38 /25 70M2

Excavate Existing Driveway To A Depth Of 240mm.

Lay MOT Type1 Stone To A Depth Of 180mm.

Install New Granite Setts To Entrance Of Driveway approx. 6000mm x500mm To Form Rumble Strip

Install Core Drive 38/25 On A Bed Of Washed Sand 30mm In Thickness & Cover With 12 /14 mm Gravel

Price £4.385.00 inc Of VAT @20%

Without Excavation & stone £3.125.00 Inc of vat

With stone supplied 3.650.00 inc of vat
==================================================================

they recommend a ''rumble strip'' across the front of the drive so there is a barrier between the gravel and the footpath/road. Either block paved, slabbed or concrete would do the job I guess (this quote is for granite blocks)
