Longleat safari park

Great day out yesterday at Longleat Thumbs Up Its tricky to get decent photos while rocking about in the back of the Defender 110 (VIP tour wagon) but didn't do too badly and it's not like I was getting out or winding the window down for a better shot Laughing (more pics to follow). Highly recommended day out but if you value your car, avoid the monkey enclosure Thumbs Up

Almost forgot the brilliant story that the tour guide told us. A couple of years ago, a couple were driving through the tiger enclosure, not far from the entrance gate, when their car broke down. Instead of sounding their horn to alert passing cars or staff or trying to phone the park staff, they got out of their car and walked back to the gate! Shocked

It was pure luck that the tigers were the other side of the grass bank and did not see them. Had the wind been blowing in the wrong direction, the tigers would have caught their scent and given chase. They would not have made it to the gate put it that way!

They made it to the gate and the gatekeeper gave them a good roasting about what they had done. The woman, somewhat outraged at being told off, said to the gatekeeper that it would not have been a problem because her husband is a karate expert! Rolling with laughter

Indeed. However, Longleat gives them more freedom and huge areas compared to other parks and they are treated very well. Nothing beats the wild of course. LL.B (Hons) - University of Derby

Last time I went around Longleat ( quite a few years ago) the monkey enclosure was littered with wiper blades, car aerials and wing mirrors and trim strips etc. It was like driving through a scrap yard. Laughing 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Does anyone recall that there used to be a TV advert for something showing the monkeys lined up with a trolley jack and tools waiting for cars to enter the enclosure? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
