Didn't mean there was a scam, just coincidence we both ordered from eBay the same time, mine was used at 200, I've been watching eBay for a while and did not see any others, did you win an auction or buy it now, was it new? Wha did you pay

I managed to fit my detachable towbar without removing the bumper partly because the car had a towbar fitted previously although had been removed. All I can say about the experience is my hands were skint along with my arms lol. Also it wasn't the easiest to fit the cross rail partly as I was on my own it's a heavy old lump to hold and fit the bolts. Would have been easier with the bumper removed. Regards

I have a Witter detachable towbar with a flanged ball. This is a standard flanged ball and could be easily replaced if necessary. It also allows me to bolt on a plate to take my Witter bike carrier as well as my tow ball.

The detachable part has a very positive action when properly engaged and has a red/green indicator in the relaese knob. The knob is lockable to present theft.

Ok I'll admit I like Witter stuff - I've used Witter on a variety of vehicles over the years with no complaints. However get the OEM electrics. Jules

For those interested, the Witter fixed tow bar is pretty straightforward to fit and although they suggest removing the LH rear reflector from the number and drilling same, I found this to be pretty useless. The stud lengths require that you have a pretty deep socket and the 20mm drilled holes did nor allow my 1/2" extension bar or socket to pass through.

Personally, I found it much easier to remove the LH rear light cluster which is very simple to do and allows far better access to the studs with a small combination spanner.

Your milage may vary. Very Happy

Very interesting, I'm about to have a go at fitting a towbar, Witter with genuine electrics.

Did you manage to fit yours without a jack or ramp?

No need for jack or ramps and in fact, if you put the rear on ramps, although you will have slightly better access underneath, reaching down through the hole for LH light unit might be a stretch. Also. on ramps you will have to lift the bar that much higher which if on your own (as I was) will make it more difficult. I fitted the witter fixed plate tow bar with the dedicated LR 13 pin electrics and although I have yet to have the computer updated, have experienced no problems at all.

Hello, how's the fitting going? Mine arrived thinks it's too heavy for me to fit myself.

Did you remove the bumper?

I want to try to reach the bolts with the LH lamp removed, then take it somewhere to have the main bar fitted.
Used to live in Florida, and only thing I miss is the garage and tools,
and something they yanks call sun, can't really explain what that is have to see it to believe

The Witter bar is made of quality box steel and is bloody heavy and awkward to manoeuvre on your own - that's why I used a trolley jack to help lift and move the bar as I located the main bolts - with two people it would not be so difficult (or if you are younger and fitter than I am I suppose). I had no problem locating the bolts through the two hole drilled method No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

7 pin electrics are only checked for visual damage and security for the MOT, 13 Pin is checked that it is wired and working correctly. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior
