Had my X3 2 years now and its only been to the dealer twice and that was for routine servicing, £425 bill for 5 years of servicing so already saved money over the cost of servicing my old FL2! Its been a delight to own, completely trouble free and loaded with kit. Another 12 months and it goes back, at the moment the only replacement I am considering is another X3, perhaps drop down from msport to xline (a trim that wasnt available when i had mine) and kit it out with more toys or even the 3L engine with what I save. Second hand X3's are starting to appear around the 14K mark now so will appeal to more poeple. Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

No disrespect but Ive had a fantastic 3 years in my Freelander 2 and its gets used properly offroad everyday.

Its done 60K and only modification it has is some general grabbers, it drives as sweet as the day I got it, no squeeks rattles anything.

Ive had over 20 cars ranging from new shogun to pickups to rally type cars, and without doubt Id put freelander 2 more capable at everything as a whole better than the rest.

And Ive pretty much no doubt if you chained mine to any of the mentioned cars on a muddy field Id be pretty confident it would drag them up the field like a rag doll, saying that Ive been in a few freelander 2s and none have had anything like the grunt mine has, maybe its been remapped before I bought it.

One thing for sure is the smaller wheels combined with the general grabbers make it one smooth ride on the pot holed roads around where I live, and it makes the speed bumps on my street feel silent, my mates 2011 rr sport is a much harder ride.

Plus I wouldnt feel right turning up at the farms I shoot on in a hyundia or x3 suppose its down to what you do mainly but if you actually go offroad quite a bit then I reckon the Freelander 2 makes a better aguement for itself.

Just my two pennies worth, they can keep the new crop evoques and discovery sport, my next car will be another end of the line sd4 sport, by which time I reckon will be going with reasonably low milage for around £15k

Customer services at Mitsubishi Cars UK say they can't give a definite on a Pajero Sport/Shogun Sport for the UK market but I think they have their eye on so many disgruntled LandRover customers wanting a rugged 4x4 vehicle that we may not have to wait too long.
One of our local utility companies had a couple of wagons out working near me today - using a venerable old Defender 110 with all the kit on a roof rack and their newer vehicle parked alongside it - a LWB Japanese pickup of course.

I've been living a lie, it's the new X1 I've been seeing siting at the dealers. It looks a bit bigger than the previous one.

Absolutely no doubt that the FL2 is miles better offroad than the X3 but i had two FL2's over 6 years and never once had the need to go off-road so wasn't something i needed in its replacement.

My experience of the FL2 and the dealers was terrible, my first FL2 had a knocking noise from the rear that one dealer spent numerous attempts at fixing before telling me they couldn't and to go somewhere else, then another dealer had it for a week saying they fixed it when they hadn't, it took them another 2 week long attempts before they finally fixed it and even then I never got a definitive explanation, oh and they kindly dented the bonnet whilst in their possession then denied doing it so i had to pay for the repair!!! My second FL2 was fine for 12 months but for the next two years spent 6 times at the dealers, it had 2 yes TWO replacement haldex units fitted, rear diff replaced amongst over things that went wrong - this was for a 'go anywhere' vehicle that was under 3 years old with only less than 30,000 miles on the clock that had never been off-road. I have had 9 vehicles in my driving history (8 from new) and both FL2's were the worst by a country mile.

As Shilen says above, not ALL of us have had as much descent service or trouble free motoring as others, so everyone to their own, and my personal experience was absolute .

In defence of Land Rover I am sure many on here have had bitter sweet experiences with many dealers. I certainly have had with a Vauxhall dealer. Won't touch a main dealer now, always an indie but I am sure that is being unfair to many. Once bitten twice shy as they say
