I was at Halewood with work a while ago, I asked about other engines for the Freelander 2, the TDV6 can't be used as it is not suitable for a transverse application.

There is a rumour that the TD4 'may' get the 173PS upgrade like in the new Mondeo with the same engine. But not sure when this will happen. If I here of anything I'll post it up.

But I do know that the engine plant at Bridge end are working on a turbocharged 3.2 for the Freelander 2 and other new smaller Land Rovers. At present there is debate about the turbocharger, as this is in effect the same engine as the XC90 T6, Land Rover want one type of turbo and Volvo want another type, so they are working to get a compromise so one powerplant can be made.
