Working to pay for servicing Laughing I can't believe no one else on here haggled to get a 3 year service plan as a deal sweetener for FREE Mr. Green

Only 3, I got 5 with my Disco Mr. Green

I'm a big fan of the Disco, but it ain't the most economical car for one person hence the move to Fl2, 3 in fact plus an Evoque and a very brief spell with a Disco Sport but you can only fight the urge so long now back in a proper Disco. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black

Interesting progression from XC90 to FL2 - as that is what my wife is (nearly) doing - had an XC90 for 3.5 years (completely reliable), she then recently got a Prius but when it gave her back ache has nicked my D4. So considering getting rid of the Prius for a FL2.

The D4 seems to have spoiled her as she wants one with sat nav and heated electric seats Shocked

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Sumatra Black

Ah...yes...reliable...see...that's where my XC90 let me down!

In two and a half years of ownership it needed:

- A trip back to the dealers twice to fix a leak into the footwell (window)
- A trip back to the dealers as the 4 wheel drive system, wasn't 4 wheel driving
- A new gearbox because mine decided to explode on the way down to Twickenham to watch the rugby (argh!) ...but the car went on the back of an AA truck and I went to Twickenham!
- A new clutch and dual mass flywheel (worn out)
- A complete flush of the cooling system as the oil cooler failed and oil poured from the engine and into the cooling system (whilst at the dealers to get new fuel pump software, which meant I couldn't drive it and they had to fix it for £700)
- A new fuel pump because mine failed on the motorway on the way back from holiday and we had to get picked up by the AA
- The turbo pipe failed whilst in the Peak District and I couldn't find a spare anywhere in the country so had to order from Volvo UK. With no tools in the cottage we were staying in, the AA had to come and sort!
- And finally the parking sensor gave up the ghost.

I've three kids so not a light decision to move to the FL2, but after driving a few I realised they were solid and dependable, plus a friend who owns a LR garage in the North East, said they were the most reliable LR out there. Plus I can fit the kids in!

Hope I'm not jinxing myself, but I feel I've made the right decision Smile

England 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

I've had just the one serious (new turbo) and one minor (tailgate lock) problem in over four years with my 2008 HSE Auto and I still love the driving experience. It's also good to get positive comments from passengers about how quiet and comfortable it is.

I have it serviced by a local independent LR specialist and he confirms that the FL2 is the most reliable model that Land Rover have ever made. His wife drives a nice red one.

All in all, it's a goodie! Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto
Tricia's - 2006 Royal Blue Beetle Cabriolet Auto
Mine - 2014 Vespa GTS 300 Super Sport Matt Black
Ours - 2007 White Bailey Pageant Champagne
