2 Bongs or not 2 Bongs, that is the question....

When I start my MY2013 I quite often get two (warning?) bongs as it starts, however it does not do it all of the time. I though it might be a low temp ice warning, but even in the mild weather it does it. I can't work out what it means, or why it only does it sometimes (probably 50% of starts). No dash warning lights, no other obvious problems.

Any ideas?

Simon

You're not alone, I also get 'bongs' when I first start up but then sometimes I get no 'bongs' so I have ignored it for two years. Bong or not there are no warnings or otherwise, maybe not a warning but a self test bong associated with something Confused

My Evoque does the same sometimes and I believe you have the same dash setup in the later FL2's. Low washer fluid in my case. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto

If its telling you you need to attend to something such as low washer fluid shouldnt the bongs be backed up by a message on the display too?

But the OP said theres no indications?

Not outside temp (has done it at 11C and -5C recently) and washer bottle is fairly full. I usually park on flat ground, so would expect it to always do it if it was the fluid level.

Still stumped at 2b or not 2b!

Having been a proud owner of an '09 FL HSE for whole week now, this issue has had me scratching my head too. I believe that it gives a warning on starting up if the outside temp is below 4 or 5Deg C (as it has been here for the last few days). The Ice warning symbol next to the temp display flashes for a few seconds before going back to steady. However it also gives 2 bongs at other times when driving and I cant match it up to any other warning display! 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto - Stornoway Grey - Hers (His, really)
