United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Fuji White
Rear wipers - what's best?

Hi All,
Just getting ready for winter and replacing all the wiper blades as I think mine are all the original ones. Got Valeo Silencio VM399 Front Wiper Blades for the front but went to Halfords for the back.

Got the Bosch Wiper Blade 13 - Standard but the one on the back currently is 14" and the flat type not the metal type so as I'm a bit OCD I want to get ones that are right for the car.

What is the original one or one that are similar that are best?

Thanks in advance of any replies.

Glyn Jones.

Just replaced my wipers too. I put Valeo on the front as they are supposed to be OEM. They are fine but slightly smeary - I'll give them a while to see if they bed in. On the back I put a Lucas, which was the cheapest and I thought that would be OK. However the "universal" fitting wasn't that easy to fit, and once on the wiping was very poor. So instead I have now fitted a "smooth" wiper and arm off e-bay. Various suppliers but mine came from Bolt-on partshttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Smooth-Rear...0438874557 and it both looks cool and works very well. In case anyone needs a bit of help with this (I know it's simple, but not all of us are mechanics!) I did the following:
Check the joint between wiper blade and arm. Mine was loose as it hadn't been pushed right home onto the arm. Now note exactly where the old wiper is parked, as you want to fit the new one in the same position. It should cover the wiggly bity of the heating element. At the base of existing wiper, lift the plastic cover - it hinges up towards the wiper blade - to reveal a 13mm nut. Undo this and pull up the wiper. It will probably stick and you will need to carefully prise it off the spindle with a large screwdriver. Now fit the new wiper in the same position and tighten the 13mm nut. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
