Agreed they are poor lights and I like your good self up-rated my previous FL2 bulbs but still found them lacking.

Ditto. The standard lights are not the best, I just renamed the fogs as 'driving lights', helps pick out the grassy road edge. Last edited by EYorkshire on 18th Feb 2016 1:34 pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I suppose its what youre used to, coming down for xenons yes they certainly are rubbish, but mines got H3B bulbs in and I didnt think they were that terrible, certainly no more than other normal halogen lights Ive had, maybe its the units between the early FL2 and the later ones with the H3B bulbs and shutter for dip/high beam that are most crap? |

Mine are the HB3 with shutter and dipped beam is an improvement over my previous cars MY11 halogens, but still inadequate for a 'not cheap' car. Quite happy with full beam though, although its hard to find a clear road to use it. |

Agreed not good for such an expensive car, this is why I would like to fit Xenon units as a swap, but its not plug and play is it if you want to remain legal and not dazzle everyone else, if it was as easy as undoing 2 screws and pulling out the plug and vice versa Im sure no one would put up with the standards? |

It is perfectly legal(check the mot regs if you have any doubt) like all lights they have to be aligned properly as do any lights to avoid dazzling other road users! :)but in will need enabling on the ccf did mine with an indie in chard for£20. |

.... and are they plug and play with MY13 onwards or does the dealer have to configure? |

I don't want to be rude but the last time I heard this about poor headlights on a 2010 Free lander 2 with halogen was from a mate who turned out to be short sighted when she visited the opticians she was shocked to find out her eye sight was just below the legal limit for driving. |

Eyesight is certainly a factor. mine is fine for my age but my night vision isn't quite what it used to be and it's definitely harder to pick out detail. One thing though if you wear glasses - I have varifocals and realised about a year ago that at night I was sometimes looking through the mid-range part of the lens rather than the distant part. Obvious during the day but at night there are fewer things to focus on and I just didn't realise that the view was out of focus. I now have a pair of bifocals just for driving, mainly distance lens but a tiny patch at the bottom to read the speedo and satnav. As a result I'm much safer! Worth considering if you wear varifocals.
