Puncture and Spare Tyre

Picked up a really bad puncture yesterday and the whole rim was nearly touching the Tarmac. Luckily I had a compressor in the back just by chance and pumped up enough air for the journey home. A massive bolt has pierced the tyre, I do have a full size spare and had I not had the compressor in the boot I would have had to use my spare wheel!

Lesson in life spec a spare when ordering a new car Laughing

Pumped her up with some more air as not wanting to ruin the tyre. Will take the wheel off over the weekend and have the tyre repaired.

Looks like a self drilling tapping screw to me, the sort they fit steel roofing and facial panels on with?
Worst places for picking those up industrial estate new builds or a DIY centre where the previous person to park there dropped a box full on the floor, and then just kicked them across the car park. Rolling Eyes

Luckily you can get a hole in the tread repaired unlike one I had which went into the edge of the sidewall on a 800 mile tyre.

Main problem is having treads on your tyres, a bald tyre wouldnt have picked it up.

There are going a hell of a lot of major road works I feel that is where I picked it up as this week I've only been to work and then straight home. Wheel is now removed and stuck on a 22! She looks like a hot rod now Laughing

How unlucky is that!

One day you run over a nail and get a puncture.

Today you run over a tin of red paint.
Sh*t happens I guess.

Lol

Is it ok to run different size wheels ?.I've got 20s on mine with a 19 spare,I know the difference is 12mm but put side by side the 20 looks a lot taller.

Isn't it all to do with rolling radius? After all, how does it work with a space saver. Different width, different rim size, different tread pattern, possibly different rim material. It is only supposed to be used in an emergency.

It is irrespective of wheel diameter, the tyre profile corrects for wheel diameter using standard wheel and tyre sizes. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis
