Apart from the colour and SWMBO has the newer (by about 6 months) and updated version! I shout and swear at mine every so often but the Missus' has voice control on hers - so my Daughter has christened it "Simon" as apparently it sounds like a Simon! Both 2012 Manual XS specs - driving the wife's confuses hell out of me as the wiper controls are all changed and I really don't like the Electronic parking brake.....

You get used to the electronic handbrake, its good that it releases itself automatically as you move off and it has hill start assist so the brakes hold the car for a moment on a slope so you dont need to apply the handbrake, and its more effective than the old manual one too, all good i thought. |

Electronic handbrake? If it works I'll have one please! My manual handbrake reminds me of the "brakes" on the 1951 Ford 8 van that was my very first car back in 1965. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

It's only a pair of motors pulling the cable instead of a handle.

I believe the Frrelander has motors acting directly on the pads without cables, the FFRR has cables, I may be wrong but that's what I understand it to be

Do you mean that electric models don't use the drum/shoes for handbrake then? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

As far as I know yes they are shoeless now and just use the same pads as the rear discs but apply them by a servo motor when you operate the button? |

And the electrics on Land Rovers are well known for being so robust and reliable..................... Maybe it's just me - I like the "security blanket" of a big f-off handle to pull on and the sound of a ratchet for the handbrake/parking brake - not that I rely on it. Probably just slow to adapt to all this new-fangled technology FL No 1 - 2012 (MY2011) XS manual Firenze Red - Gone FL No 2 - 2012 (MY2012) XS manual Barolo Black - SWMBO wanted one too! FL No 3 -2013 XS SD4 Auto Santorini Black Series III SWB Hardtop - long gone 110 CSW V8 - long gone Discovery 1 200Tdi - long gone |
