Heated rear window

Hi all
heated rear window on FL2 2009 will not work. Fuse in boot is ok and wiring all looks good (checked while removing tailgate switch) so cant really work out whats wrong with it.
Anyone got any more ideas please?
Mike

The rear window heating elements are only printed onto the surface of the glass and thus are very vunerable to being scratched and damaged breaking the circuit, especially if you carry large loads that might move and rub on the rear window or say animals.
Take off the wires at the screen and put a circuit tester on them to see if there is a current flowing across them and the lines arent broken through being scratched?
If the screen proves to be ok then test the earth to the body and work back from there

In all honesty, no I haven't, although it lights up when I either press it or the other button which turns on the whole demisting system (fan etc)

Have you put a multimeter on the power supply end at the fuse to see if there is voltage?

& have you checked the resistance of the rear window demister at the fuse with a multimeter?

This is all you need, in a lot of respects they are better than a digital meter. http://www.jaycar.com.au/Test-%26-Measurem...r/p/QM1020 Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

I have a multimeter and will try this. Thank you for your help and if I get any answers I'll get back to you.

I had to have a new rear window fitted on my freelander as I scratched the central lines that carries the power to the rear window.

Except those vertical lines aren't for the demister circuit, they are radio/tmc antennae.

The power connections for the rear demister are in the top corners of the glass, on the left side (looking forwards) a fat green cable is the +12V, on the other side a black cable which is earthed to the tailgate. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
