Violent engine judder on startup

I was in the car yesterday with my son from Africa, we had driven for about 5 miles and stopped at a shop. When I started up the engine, the car shook violently so I stopped it and restarted. Everything was fine and we proceeded to drive for another 100 miles and back without problems. I have had this before and perhaps once a year it has happened on all of our Freelanders we have owned so I wasn't too worried. My son was horrified when I said that they do that occasionally. He can't understand why we put up with vehicles like this.
It reminded me of a comment to me from a non LR car dealer who said that in his experience, LR owners are prepared to put up with more issues with their vehicles and are more likely to do work on them themselves. Which is why forums like this are so successful I guess. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I have had this too, Alex recently commented, not sure which thread, I seem to remember it was something to do with the ECU and getting confused over the firing order?

I have had ultra reliable cars in the, I am on my second Freelander, the first time I have ever bought the same make in succession, it has character and I love it to bits Thumbs Up
