Will 245/75/17 fit a standard freely?

It's well documented that the 245/70/17 will fit the Freely in standard form without any issues

Thing is, its not a very common size in South Africa, almost soley limited to Mud Terrain tyres
245/75/17 having way more options, in my chosen AT for mild off roading and sand playing

So am I pushing by trying to fit 245/75/17 on a Freely that is not lifted and has no mods?

I know that the 245/70 R17 are ok for our freelander, but I won't more.
so, I also ask if 245/75 R17 could be fit without problems.
I think about cooper discoverer at3 LT245/75 R17.
My freelander is a 2012 190cv

I would also like to know, cannot find anything which is affordable.

Considering purchasing the 235/65/17 with a heavy heart knowing i just threw 2 cm of ground clearance in the water.

As per http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html

245/75/17 might be a bit of a stretch even with spacers, etc.

Why not look at 265/65/17 which is 5mm rolling circumference different? Pretty sure the extra 20mm width wouldn't be too much of an issue. My Ride: Clickety-click

That (265/65/17) is the Fortuner tyres and they are all well priced.

However, I have noted Ucleron experimented with different sizes and he wrote this in PM to me when I asked him if he thinks the 265/65/17 would fit:

"My spare wheels have got a set of 265/70 X 17 mud tyres on them and these are also about 265mm wide. These tyres are definitely a bit too close to the suspension struts for my liking for everyday use as there can only be a gap of about 5mm between the tyre sidewall and the strut when fitted and there are some wear marks on the side of the strut where the mud etc on the tyre sidewall has scraped/worn the paint off the side of the strut. You could possibly use wheel spacers but I'm not a great fan of them. "

The 265/65 will be about 172.25mm in height and his 265/70 would be 185.50mm in height. I don`t know if the 1.3cm would make a difference to the mud etc scraping against the strut.

Still 265/65 = 172.25mm looks allot better than 235/65 = 152.75mm which is a total of 2cm added ground clr.

Further bugging me is that if you decrease the pressure in the 265 when going off-roading won’t it increase a bid in breadth and will 5mm then be enough.

Aaarggggg my head is acing around this, why don`t we have 245/70 which is affordable in SA?!

I think one of us must go and fit 265/65/17, even though over the phone they are very sceptic, and see what they say and if it fits?
