Best way to sell a caravan

My parents are selling a 12 years old Stirling caravan and need some advice on the best place to advertise (Ebay, Autotrader Caravans, Gumtree etc). Could any members offer some advice? My father is talking about trying to sell it to trade which I am sure is the worst place to sell in terms of price. It is currently in storage so I guess his thinking is that a prolonged private sale effort will end up costing him more due to the cost of keeping it at a site.

Agreed that waiting till April is best. Don't forget your local newspapers - a lot of potential buyers don't want to travel long distances.

One useful feature of eBay is the facility to look up what things have actually sold for. That gives a more realistic view of what your starting price should be. Ours - 2008 Stornoway Grey HSE Auto

A worthwhile tip when using ebay for such items is to put the first part only of your post code in the title line. Locals will recognise it and respond. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

I've bought and sold caravans via ebay, Gumtree and preloved. In some cases i have advertised on all 3 to get max exposure without it costing too much.

What is the caravan. Do you have make/model and how much you are looking to sell it for?

I sold my caravan on ebay recently but did so under the ebay classified ad format as you pay a minimum ad price and you can advertise it for up to 28 days. I also bought a caravan on Gumtree which is by far the best place as it can cost you nothing but you may be limited to local area.

I have found it useful when looking for caravans. Its got a good filter so you can set it to search by price, berth, make layout etc. LR Freelander 2 2014 metropolis SD4 auto in Loire Blue.

Many thanks again for the selling tips. LandyV8 it is a Stirling Starlight. He's hoping for £1200-1300 for it. I'm not a caravan person so I don't know if that is realistic. They had it on a site in the Peak District but my Dad is finding the site fees a little expensive on his pension now. He is totally anal about looking after things though so it is in good condition and everything was serviced and checked at the back end of 2015. I've stayed in it a few times so can vouch for it being ok.
